Pricing Guide
Do it yourself Website Builders: Free – $500 per month.
This option is fine for very small businesses that are just starting out that aren’t relying heavily on the website to get them business. Fees include web hosting, domain names, possible subscription (depending on the web hosting site you use) and the website template if you decide to buy one. These options are inexpensive but there are some major downsides. Your site might be a template, so there will be many others that look almost exactly the same. Another huge downer, all the technical work is up to you to do (the supposedly easy to use software is often not so easy for those who are not very technical) And finally, watch out for this, these DIY websites are often based on domain names that YOU do not own (ex: you’ll have wix.yourdomain.com NOT yourdomain.com), so if you wanted to eventually hire a web designer, you can’t. You are stuck with that company forever!
Semi-custom website: $1750 – $3500
This is a service where you are heavily leaning on your already established logo and brand and someone is going to take those successful branding principles and use them to build you a new website. It’s not fully custom and branded from scratch, but it is customized for your company. This is a great way to get your website redone if you need to improve the look and feel of your online presence.
Semi-custom website with fresh branding: $2500 – $5500
This is a service where you might already have some branding or a logo that needs needs to be improved upon or even completely overhauled. The company you choose to help with this task ought to be extremely creative and able to show past logos and styles that they’ve created for other companies. The branding goes first and then the website follows in the same way as mentioned above on the semi-custom website “Semi-custom website”
Completely Custom Website: $6000 – $35000
Completely custom from scratch websites. Pricing varies depending on how much content and pages would need to be made. Pricing like this usually included various design options that your designer/developer will present to you. Perfect for if you need a completely new website and you want it to attract more customers.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): $200-$2500 per month
To properly do SEO you need to do certain actions on a monthly basis. These include setting the strategy you are operating off of, reviewing the results you are getting and of course, the actions of SEO itself. These include reviewing your current web pages and web content and making sure they are optimized as well as generating new content to go onto your website regularly. It can also include a service called link building where someone actually reaches out and helps to get other people in your field to link to your website. Based on how much of this work is being done, you should expect to pay between $200-$2500 per month. If you are getting quoted much lower or higher than this, check to see what services you are actually receiving. Lower prices usually mean that nothing or almost nothing is being done every month. Higher prices are usually an indication that they are overcharging unless the amount of work actually being done is significantly more than what you see listed above.
Paid Advertising: $500 – 10% of your ad spend.
To properly run an ad campaign you need to have a lot of skill in determining what to advertise, when and to who. It involves creating the ads and setting the audience you are targeting. It also should include setting up landing pages specific to your ads to help ensure that you are showing your potential visitors the exact data they need to see in order to get them to respond to the ads and then contact you or buy your product/service.
WILL ALWAYS NEED TO BUY Support/Hosting – $6-$200 per month
With EVERY website, you will need some sort of Hosting or Support. The most basic level you will be paying for is space to host your website on. Please note, websites do require software updates and maintenance so that they stay secure and are working properly, which is why more business owners opt to hire a design agency to maintain their website as opposed to doing it on their own. Going without doing these updates can set you up for a huge disaster when something goes wrong, especially if your website is not backed up regularly (not typically provided by hosting companies). It’s highly advised that you have someone handle your website updates and maintenance for you. Depending on the level of service you expect and the size of the company you go with for this, expect to pay between $50-200 per month for this service.
There it is, your guide to all things web site pricing. These prices are just estimates, pricing ranges depending on how many pages your website needs and what functions if requires (ex: a website selling clothes would cost more than a website that just has information about the company because it has more functionality to it). We understand that every website is unique and important to their business owners and that having a great web site can greatly impact the success of your business. We hope this guide helps you better understand the web design process and help you in determining your web site budget for your company.
